Kudos to PRP Creative for Their Award-Winning Netiquette Campaign!

Kudos to PRP Creative for their award-winning Netiquette Campaign!

Congrats all of the PRP students who participated in this year’s Louisville Ad Fed High School Marketing Challenge. In all, PRP had three student-led teams who created comprehensive advertising campaigns on the topic of Social Media, addressing the dangers of posting private information online. All three teams from PRP won awards, competing against public and private schools across the district.

Shown here are [Left to Right] Rebecca Wayne, Trevor Gibson, Morgan Tilton, Malik Alleyne-Jones, and Taylor Gray, of PRP Creative, who won “Best Implementation” for their in-school poster campaign, and second place overall in the challenge. Their team’s campaign included a logo, branding guide, posters, billboards, social media formats, a 30 second PSA, and a proposal to create and launch a social media monitoring App.

Third Place was awarded to PRP Team 1, [Team Members: Lauren Jett, Hannah Baldauf, Joey Decker and Parker Shouse], for their campaign, P4: People Promoting Positive Profiles. The award for Best Video PSA went to PRP Team 2 [Team Members: Matt Dawson, Abby Anderson and Katlynn Wathen].

Reach Out Campaign Included in KMAC Mini Museum

Reach Out Campaign Included in KMAC Mini Museum

PRP Design Studio students recently collaborated with Ky Museum of Art & Craft to reproduce posters and other collateral from last year’s Reach Out Stay Strong campaign–to be included in a “Advertising Design” themed Mini Museum. Students recreated posters from the campaign, drafted a design brief, printed contact sheets from the campaign photo shoot, and recreated a sketchbook showing the team’s brainstorming and design process. Last year’s Ad Fed High School Marketing Challenge theme was teen depression awareness.

KMAC’s Mobile Museum Program gives teachers and students the opportunity to explore Kentucky art right in the classroom. When a teacher orders a Mobile Museum, they get a suitcase packed with 8-12 real artworks, plus lesson plans, books, dvds, and other resources. KMAC offers 22 Mobile Museums covering 13 different themes.

Another Great Year is Underway!

Wow, it’s hard to believe we are already at the end of September and finishing the first six weeks of school! Students have been busy working with clients on new design projects, and new students have been learning the essentials of the Adobe programs we use in class.

For the first time this year, advanced students are enjoying a yearlong, project-based class called Design Studio. Students from this class work on projects like the AdFed High School Marketing Challenge [watch for more info on this year’s challenge in the coming months]; t-shirt and poster designs for school activities/groups; posters promoting College and Career Readiness and Student Achievement; various mural and banner projects and advertising campaigns.

We have also hosted guests from the Louisville Free Public Library; Kentucky School of Art @ Spalding University; Ringling College of Art & Design. We are looking ahead to job shadow days at Creative Alliance [with Junior Achievement], and a field trip for Photography and NAHS students to the Indianapolis Museum of Art to see the blockbuster Matisse Exhibition.

PRP Designs for VANS Custom Culture!

GroupFinal_PRPCheck out the amazing shoes PRP students created for this year’s VANS Custom Culture contest! To start, designs were developed as part of a class project. Students used templates provided by VANS and generated designs using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Designs were required to fit one of four themes: Art, Music, Local Flavor, and Action Sports [surf/skate; not stick and ball]. When all designs were complete, classes voted to select their top choice in each category.

In mid February, our four blank pairs of VANS arrived, and the painting began!! A team of about twenty students completed the final designs, under the art direction of the students whose designs were chosen. Shown here are the results of their efforts, Thanks, VANS for this awesome opportunity!

Trevor has been invited to attend a ceremony at world-famous Carnegie Hall in late May, and the poster campaign featuring PRP students will be on view at the Parsons School of Design in NYC . The posters will also travel around the country for up to two years as part of the Scholastic Awards traveling exhibition.
