CCAD Brings Airstream Trailer to PRP

photo 3Visual Art, Design and Photography students listened as admissions representatives from Columbus College of Art and Design explained the design-thinking process that resulted in a collaboration with the Airstream Corporation to create a prototype of a mobile studio for professionals. CCAD students spent 16 weeks building a scale model of the trailer inside their classroom studio out of plywood and cardboard, designing custom built-ins and ergonomically correct furniture. The Louisville stop included a visit to PRP and a weekend visit to Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft for National Portfolio Day.

PRP Design Studio Class Visits Humana Headquarters

photo 1Students attended the Louisville Advertising Federation’s 2014 High School Marketing Challenge Pre-Challenge Seminar this week. The seminar was held on the 25th floor of Humana’s Headquarters, allowing students to experience a true corporate environment as they listened to presentations by Humana’s brand manager and advertising professionals from some of Louisville’s top agencies.

The marketing challenge requires students to develop a comprehensive marketing plan for their client, Humana. The plan must include research, a survey, creative brief and a full advertising campaign with social media, print and out-of-home components. Students will present their work in mid-November, and compete against other public and parochial schools in the Louisville area.

PRP Students visit the Big Apple!

WallStreet

Earlier this month I was lucky enough to lead a group of 32 to New York City. We had a blast, and visited Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, took a walking tour of Central Park, climbed to the top of the Empire State Building (well, we did climb the last six floors to the top!), and shopped at Macy’s NYC. That was all on the first day!! Other highlights included the Statue of Liberty, Battery Park, Little Italy, China Town, Times Square, a Broadway Show, the 9/11 Memorial, and Chelsea Market. Thanks to all my students, parents and chaperones for helping to make it a trip everyone will always remember. And a special thanks to my students for the beautiful 9/11 book signed by everyone. I will cherish it always! Ms. Webb
